I analyze current purchases from Hopkins dining facilities to recommend procurement shifts, with the goal of getting 35% Real Food (local/community-based, ecologically sound, fair, and/or humane) by 2020.

I developed a manual for the new Eco-Reps programs that outlines the Eco-Reps' responsibilities, offers tips and resources for success, and frames their work in the context of environmental justice and sustainability at Hopkins and Baltimore.I created a GIS layer for sustainability-related features on the Hopkins campus. I highlighted LEED buildings, solar panels, green roofs, waste management stations, etc., with interesting and important data tied to each.I began planning outreach events for the undergraduate community and created advertising materials, like posters, for those events.

I collected and analyzed data for university-sponsored air travel and quantified the carbon emissions related to that travel. With the goal of purchasing local carbon offsets, I researched the species and location of trees for optimal urban carbon sequestration and calculated the amount necessary to offset all university air travel.

I worked at the Center for a Livable Future's Food System Lab, an urban aquaponics farm, where I educated students and visitors about elements of public health, ecology, and engineering through tours and hands-on activities. I also assisted in day-to-day farm management activities
