CurrentHague Conference on Private International Law (May 2005 - present)Position: Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean- Main functions: directs the regional office, whose main objectives are to facilitate the proper implementation and operation of the Hague Conventions in the region, to encourage governments and stakeholders in the region to be actively engaged in the work of the Hague Conference, and to support to the extent needed, the legislative projects that are being… Show more Hague Conference on Private International Law (May 2005 - present)Position: Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean- Main functions: directs the regional office, whose main objectives are to facilitate the proper implementation and operation of the Hague Conventions in the region, to encourage governments and stakeholders in the region to be actively engaged in the work of the Hague Conference, and to support to the extent needed, the legislative projects that are being developed at its headquarters in The Hague. - Development of PIL instruments: i) Global level: assisted with the works that developed several HCCH instruments ii) Regional Level: member of the working group that developed the “Ibero-American Protocol on International Judicial Cooperation”, adopted in 2014 by the Ibero-American Judicial Summit; coordinated the works that developed and adopted in 2007 the “Interamerican Model Law on Procedure for the application of the Conventions on International Child Abduction”.- Promotion, implementation, reviewing operation of HCCH Conventions: responsible for, or support with, the organization of multiple global, regional and national meetings and seminars on the HCCH Conventions. - Trainings on international child abduction: participated and presented in more than 60 trainings in Latin America and the Caribbean addressed to judges, judicial and public officers and lawyers.- Technical Assistance/consultancies: developed field studies and legal research in technical assistance projects to facilitate the implementation of HCCH Conventions, inter alia: Intercountry Adoption in Mexico (2010) and Guatemala (2007); and on International Child Abduction in Mexico (2009). - Representing the HCCH at international meetings: among others the ones organized under the aegis of Ibero-american community, Organization of American States, MERCOSUR, SICA, and CARICOM.
