Consular Assistant
Current• Provides high-quality administrative and logistical support to the Consulate of Uruguay.• Manages and maintains the calendar of the Consul and Consulate with timely response to internal & externalclients requests. Scheduling to include effective prioritizing and resolving related conflicts and competingdemands.• Manages and processes travel arrangements for Consul.• Responsible for processing powers of attorney, minor’s permits, ID cards, proof of life, birth, marriage and deathcertificates.• Provides written and oral replies to public inquiries, answering NIV related questions and inquiries aboutUruguayan Citizen Services that come in via the Consular Section's public e-mail or via telephone.• Processes all Non-Immigration Visa applications from beginning to end, including entering NIV applications into the consular system, preparing documents for adjudication by the Consular Officer, printing approved visas, andpreparing passports/visas for pick-up by the applicant.• Provides English translation of documents to the Consular Officer as needed.• Management of consular cases, including managing a database, in accordance with consular instructions.• Provides advice/assistance to Uruguayan citizens in difficulty in the US (e.g. accident/illness/other emergency,queries regarding immigration status etc) including conducting research on the citizens behalf and liaising withthe Uruguayan and US authorities on the citizen’s behalf where necessary• Monitors changes in Uruguayan immigration law and other consular regulations and, in consultation with theConsular Officer, implements these changes in the Consular Section as appropriate.• Manages Consulate’s website updates and contents.
