Partnering with the CEO and executive team, I have overarching responsibility for planning, directing, and overseeing the business unit’s operational policies, rules, initiatives, and goals to help the organization execute long-term and short-term plans and directives by implementing judgment, vision, management, and leadership.I am responsible for developing and implementing the underwriting strategy for Marine and Surety in line with the corporate objectives and facilitating work processes in order to achieve high service standards to help our clients to improve results.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Responsible for the design and implementation of global guidelines, framework of key controls and best practices for the Technical Accounting function for AXA XL Reinsurance unit. I implemented KPIs and MI reports that were critical to identify performance improvement opportunities and proactive handling of issues and remediation measures. I led a global group of +60 colleagues distributed within Argentina, Bermuda, United States, England, France, India and Poland. I built a global-team culture by promoting real collaboration, enabling professional development and adopting diversity and inclusion as a core value.I improved all KPIs, eliminated legacy backlogs, reduced the aged debt drastically, and managed to put the suspense cash at the right level among other achievements.Expanded the use of messaging (ACORD standard), modernized the front-end application of the TA and Cash in-house core system, implemented a payment-automation interface with large commercial banks and, promoted a client-centric continues improvement approach fostering operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsible for standardization and service excellence for global reinsurance technical accounting. The role includes managerial responsibility and accountability for regional technical accounting teams. Participating member of the Global Reinsurance Operations leadership group.

Argentina

I managed the LatAm Claims department which was responsible for handling all Latin America and Caribbean claims for all P&C lines of business. I also leaded the Technical Accounting department which handled the administration of the run-off and in-force portfolios. In October 2012, in addition to the business functions, I assumed the role of Country Manager in Argentina for the local operation. I was also appointed as President of XL Re Latin America Argentina and Vice President of XL Insurance Argentina. After the merge of XL and Catlin, I also built up the UW support department for LatAm which was also under my scope of responsibilities. I worked closely with underwriters, actuaries and senior management and participated in multiple corporate projects and initiatives.

Argentina

As a result of a major restructuring, all back-office activities for the LatAm region were transferred to the operations department in Argentina. I worked closely with the management in setting up the new team which included the recruitment, training and mentoring of the new staff. I also defined standardized processes and designed appropriate controls for technical accounting, claims analysis and cash processing that were applicable to the whole book of business. In addition, I was responsible for handling large and complex losses, retrocessions, and large proportional accounts. I made a massive contribution to consolidate the team and to improve its performance which resulted in excellent results delivered to internal and external clients.

Argentina

Multi-line facultative underwriter responsible for assessing submissions received from brokers and direct cedants. Quoted and bound accounts in accordance with internal guidelines and given authority. I was also responsible for the technical analysis of the claims sourced in the assigned book of business. Main focus was Property, Engineering and Marine for South-American markets (Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia and Paraguay). I also provided technical underwriting support for facultative business in Brazil. I successfully managed the run-off portfolio (Marine, Aviation, General Liability and Port Operator) of large and complex retrocession account from Brazil.

Latin America

After five years of providing IT services for the company as a contractor, I joined them as a full time employee. I was responsible for the IT infrastructure and services for the region. Worked closely with several IT teams worldwide in multiple projects. I developed and deployed several underwriting and claims handling tools. I was a member of the group responsible for migration of the core underwriting and administration system. I was responsible for defining technical specifications for data handling, conversion and post-migration validation. I actively worked with the conversion, development and business teams as well as with vendor of legacy system to define the migration strategy. It was a two years project that required traveling and interacting with a multi-cultural and diverse team from different countries. I co-leaded the start-up process of Brazilian local company in 2008, which included facilities, IT infrastructure, in-house systems and communications.

Argentina

I have provided IT technical support to multiple organizations such as government and education institutions, insurance companies, and legal firms. The job included monitoring and maintaining the computer systems and networks of the organization, install and configure computer systems, diagnose hardware and software faults as well as solve technical and applications problems, either over the phone or in person. I had also participated in an independent project to develop an e-learning platform for education institutions. I had leaded a team of four developers and designers and had created and executed the project work plans and revised them as appropriate to meet client needs and requirements. I had managed the day-to-day operational aspects of the project which scope included, among others, engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures with clients.
