With over 8 years of work experience in the environment, health, and safety field, I am a passionate and dedicated Safety Officer/Assistant Risk Manager for the County of Colusa. My core competencies include developing and implementing safety programs, conducting inspections and audits, devising preventive measures, spearheading training, and investigating workplace accidents. My mission is to create a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, and to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. I bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the team, having served as an Operational Specialist in the US Navy for almost a decade, and as a Workshop Instructor for Calworks, a welfare program that provides education and employment services to low-income families.In my past role as the EHS Manager at Sunsweet Growers, I am responsible for overseeing the safety and environmental aspects of the workforce and the work environment, covering over 500 full-time employees. I update policies, procedures, and trainings, and work closely with other departments to help lead and encourage their teams to reach safety goals. I also conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA and company regulations, and investigate workplace accidents and identify root causes of injuries and incidents. Some of my achievements include reducing the injury rate by 15%, securing a large grant for safety equipment, and establishing a Safety Committee that fosters a culture of safety awareness and accountability. I use my skills in workplace safety, EHS, and safety auditing to deliver high-quality results and solutions.
