Ignatius Rivaldi Email and Phone Number
An embedded software engineer with experience in space hardware development, software-defined radio and embedded networking system.Developed the hardware, and firmware for Harry v3 GPS reflectometry payload, currently flying on CUAVA-2 and Waratah Seed-1 cubesats developed by University of Sydney. Hardware includes PCB design and mechanical design. Firmware is based on Yocto/OpenEmbedded Linux, running Python, C++, Rust and Julia.Worked on the Distributed Flatsat project, which aims to provide tool for remote hardware integration over Internet. It provides UART and CAN communication between each hardware over Internet. Written a full-stack web UI based on Python Flask and PostgreSQL as backend, and Vue 3 as frontend.Additionally, I also supported researchers and students in using software-defined radio for GPS/GNSS and Starlink signal capture, using USRP N310, BladeRF2 and RTL-SDR.

Research EngineerUnsw Jun 2022 - PresentDeveloped Harry v3 GPS reflectometry payload, currently flying onboard CUAVA-2 and Waratah Seed-1 cubesats. Tasks includes:- Designed 4 layer high speed RPi CM4 carrier board PCB (USB 2 and PCIe) using KiCAD, mechanical design using Autodesk Inventor. - Hand soldered components for the payload to fit into 10x10x10cm space allocated- Written Yocto Linux BSP for payload computer, with A/B partition support for safe OTA updates- Extended existing Python control software to speak GraphQL- Rewritten USB driver software for lossless high-speed data transfer between FPGA receiver and RPi CM4- Written Rust mission application that integrates with services written by CUAVA- Contributed to open-source JuliaGNSS library for data postprocessingPayload successfully powered on and navigates in space: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/andrew-dempster-798a299_to-you-this-might-look-like-an-ordinary-activity-7270551426156625921-A_Hc?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktopFrom experience gained while building Harry v3, we developed Distributed Flatsat, funded by SmartSat CRC. This is a distributed hardware-in-the-loop platform, where the end users can connect their satellite subsystems and have it communicates over the Internet. This will allow end users to test early and often, reducing risk and improving mission assurance.Developed interface node hardware and web application using Vue.js as frontend and Flask as backend.Currently developing hardware for our next-generation GNSS receiver, with reconfigurable RF frontends that can be operated in 4 channel single frequency, or 2 channel dual frequency mode. Designed 6 layer mixed-signal impedance controlled PCB:- High speed signals (PCIe, USB 2, USB 3, Gigabit Ethernet)- RF - Power and analogBrought up the hardware, written Yocto board support package -
Embedded System EngineerBluesat Unsw May 2018 - May 2021Designed GNU Radio based solution for high-altitude balloon telemetry downlink and flight termination system uplink, based on AX.25 / APRS protocol. Implemented a balloon tracker GUI based on Python with QT framework
