All the users were able to start working from home on day one without any limitations! ✓ We are maintaining our infrastructure in two datacenters and Azure, providing the business with a 24/7 available secure environment with 15-minute guaranteed recovery time and recovery point objectives.We have also produced a number of impactful applications: ✓ We redesigned and implemented most of our internal applications in Azure. All Azure-based applications can now be securely accessed even from outside of the Chilton network and designed to perform well even for people on the go with bad network connectivity. ✓ Reporting portal, portfolio management dashboard, web attribution, web P&L are just a few examples of what’s been deployed. ✓ I am especially proud of a best-in-class portfolio construction/optimization/simulation tool. The platform’s design and performance allows our client and wealth advisors to manipulate clients’ portfolios in real time while being on the phone with them.

𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐡𝐮𝐠𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬!A lot of systems have been developed and supported during my tenure as the head of the department, ranging from a proprietary data warehouse with security master and extremely flexible reporting group management system to portfolio optimization and risk management,But what I am really proud of is that we found a way to offer and build several systems that enabled Chilton with new revenue sources:𝐔𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐒 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 - a rule-based real-time trade generation system based on underlying actively managed strategies and current market conditions using sampling methodology and a set of rules defined to comply with UCITS regulations. This application allowed Chilton to create a number of UCITS products, which, given their relatively small size, would not have been financially feasible without it.𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰 (𝐂𝐨𝐁) 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 - a system that gathers CoB information on all of the firm’s short positions from various brokers and presents management with analysis in order to improve CoB operational efficiency. It turned out that just by reallocating the short book among the brokers or using the information to bargain with the brokers, Chilton was able to create an additional revenue stream.

𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢-𝐏𝐌, 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢-𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐨/𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦I was lucky to join Ivory at--as I now understand--its turning point and help it accelerate using that turn as a “gravity assist”.As it turned out, a comparatively young, agile, 40-person hedge fund was one of the pioneers in the multi-PM approach. At the time, they employed 7 or 8 PMs with small teams managing around $2.5B within two portfolios. They had built an infrastructure: a centralized risk management group, a trading desk of 6-7 execution traders, an IR group, and a back office. What they needed was a platform that would help PMs manage their positions providing as much information at their fingertips in real-time as possible but at the same time enforcing all the internal compliance and risk guidelines. Ivory was in a rapidly growing stage and this was their top priority project that, they believed, would enable their further growth.I hired a small group of talented and accomplished developers and together we were able to design, architect, develop, test, and deploy such a platform (Traders Forum 4) within 9 months. The platform was designed as an interface between the PMs and EMS (EZE TC). It would provide PMs with all the relevant information (real-time or historical as well as the market data), and help them put together a trade order across both portfolios; it would submit this order directly to the EMS and provide the PM with a real-time view on the order execution. In addition, TF4 would enforce all the internal risk and compliance guidelines.Shortly after deploying TF4, Ivory eliminated all the execution traders (keeping just one head trader and an associate), opened one more fund and was able to start onboarding new PMs. Within a year or so, Ivory grew its AUM to about $4B.It was a terrific experience to be an instrumental part of building a platform like this from scratch and seeing it enable the firm to grow so quickly.
