Naval architect experienced with both research projects and engineering assignments, member of the team awarded with the RINA-Lloyd’s Register Ship Safety Award for 2007. Holds PhD degree in technical sciences.Participated in long-term technology research associated with future developments in design and operation of seagoing and inland cargo vessels. PhD thesis on nonlinear motions of ships in realistic / extreme weather conditions, and development of innovative risk-based ship stability regulations. Published a number of scientific papers.Notable short-term assignments included: calculations of a wave energy conversion device; investigations of stability accidents on the Danube; stability analysis of an innovative inland container vessel design; assessment of buoyancy and stability of atypical floating structures equipped with large cranes (used in construction of bridges); seakeeping of a jack-up rig in wet tow in the South China Sea; a salvage operation of damaged and grounded cargo ship in Adriatic. Experienced with software for hydrostatics and ship motions calculations. Experienced with European R&D projects. Member of the expert group on external costs in inland navigation, in the FP6 Coordination Action IMPRINT-NET. Member of the project team in the FP7 Collaborative Project MoVe IT.
