In this role, I was responsible for defining major technological initiatives, reviewing and approving major technical decisions, negotiating and coordinating projects with CIO and directors of QA/Dev/IT teams, promoting and adopting TOGAF-based customized architecture framework within company.One of the major projects I was responsible for was to create Disaster Recovery (DR) site for Trading Platform and potentially move the whole Trading Platform to the Cloud. I performed research of cloud technologies and their limitations, prototyping, suggested and participated in negotiations with several Cloud vendors, and made recommendation for vendor selection. To create reliable price estimates, I developed high-level architecture for the DR solution and calculated price estimations based on multiple usage scenarios.The other projects which I worked on: Gamification project, platform white-labeling project, Enterprise Databases re-architecture project, documentation project, and several smaller process-oriented projects to introduce better flow of SDLC.

Reviewed and approved requirements, defined real-time and high-availability approaches used in Platform, influenced all major technical decisions, designed many components on high level, participated in design and requirements discussions and created long and short term team plans. Provided requirements and participated in design and creation of data centers including SAN and network design. The trading platform is developed using the following core technologies: RHEL Linux, C++, STL/Boost, 29West messaging bus, Sybase Cluster, QT GUI framework.NET/Silverlight, XML, Python.

Design, development, migration to newer platforms, and support of real-time high-performance and highly reliable back-end applications running on a cluster of Linux servers.Lead design, development and production deployments including 24x7 support for two out of five Quantum Engine servers: Configuration Server and Scheduler with teams 4 to 7 developers. Lead design and development and latency optimization for core high-performance low latency routing module for Quantum Gateway. Provided around clock support for several production servers, including Feed Distribution System (FDSS) and Quantum Engine's servers. Designed procedures for developed servers and supported Disaster Recovery (DR) tests.

Distributed Automated Image Processing System: Developed requirements based on Client's needs, wrote technical proposal, designed prototype, developed, tested, and installed product on client’s site.PCI SDK and SDE: Designed architecture and implemented key components for PCI internal Software Development Environment (SDE) and its customer version (PCI SDK), that included PPF and high-performance templated pixel processing framework in C++ with Python and Java interfaces.PCI Pluggable Framework and Functions (PPF): Based on general requirements, designed PPF and implemented multiplatform core library for PPF, including interfacing with Python. Along with PPF team, developed PPF wrapper generator, which uses XSL to generate C++ wrapping. Custom Services Department: Performed requirements analysis, including communication with partner companies and customers, and participated in architectural design for several on-going projects.

Participated in requirement analysis of the whole project, wrote formal design documentation, designed and developed core components for Vision21 project. The project was a subcontract from DoE via Fluent Inc. The project integrates Aspen Plus plant simulation software to Fluent CFD software for fine-graned simulation of specific chemical reactors and other plant parts to significantly increase overall precision and predictability of simulation. The project won "Best 100 achievements for 2004" award from R&D magazine.

Worked on Medical Infromatics projects: paperless patient records, near-real time vital signs delivery to doctors, associated security issues with such information; patient smart cards (for security and basic patient information purposes). Technologies included web-servers, client and server side Java and Java/VB script programming, MS SQL database development.

CyberPad: Designed and developed embedded real-time software and circuitry for three versions of hand-held Intel 87C51 based device for capture, compressing and storing of handwritten notes. Developed Windows communication software and GUI. Demonstrated CyberPad successfully to potential sponsors, such as IBM and BiC Group (funded part of development).

While studing towards PhD, managed an EU project researching live monitoring of curing of composit materials utilizing a network of fiber optic sensors. The collected sensor data was transformed into 2-D and 3D pressure and temperature map of cured object via tomography methods and using a cluster of TMS320C40 transputers.

MONET (Meeting On the NET) videoconferencing system for doctors for Solaris and Windows 95: Developed video capture, transmission/reception modules, error handling and process monitoring.
