•Design, test, troubleshoot, and integrate various Internet Protocol (IP) communication subsystems for fixed station/guide-way and mobile train local area networks (LANs).•Lead design engineer for CCTV and WLAN subsystems for an airport train system (station wayside and vehicle) in Germany.•Tested/verified specifications of industry standard IEEE 802.11n (5GHz) Wireless LAN (WLAN) technologies used to support voice, video, and data traffic for high-speed and stationary communications between a train and fixed wayside network.•Worked with Cisco to test/verify new high-speed roaming firmware/loads for their 802.11n controller-based solution with the WLC 5500 series controller and Aironet 3600 series access points (APs). These tests verified the extent of application level voice, video, and data degradation during handovers between mobile train APs (35-50mph) and fixed wayside APs.•Created a MATLAB script suite to quickly analyze debug (Cisco CLI debugs) and throughput (Jperf) outputs seen on the Cisco WLAN test deployment. These scripts efficiently extracted and graphed results pertaining to handover times, throughput (TCP/UDP), received signal strength indication (RSSI), modulation and coding scheme (MCS) rates, AP association, and connection packet retries between the mobile train and fixed wayside APs.•Simulated and conducted RF environment characteristics for WLAN AP pre-deployments using Fluke Networks AirMagnet Survey, Planner, and Spectrum XT along with Anristu/General Dynamics spectrum analyzers. •Created documents used to describe system implementation, configuration, field/factory/engineering testing procedures, and subsystem assemblies.•Lead design engineer for an outdoor-rated (IP66) enclosure to house PoE/PoE+ injectors used to provide IEEE 802.3af/at standard power and IP communications to subsystem devices.•Worked with a dynamic LED sign manufacturer to design signs for an airport train system (station wayside and vehicle) in New Jersey.

•Developed MATLAB scripts to analyze mechanical system stability and range/doppler detection accumulation for a ground-based radar system. The results of these scripts determined the effects of external RF jamming, in relation to how detections accumulated on the RF front-end (i.e. range or doppler spread) within the radar's range/doppler bins.•Traveled to U.S. Proving Grounds for system reliability testing for detecting/projecting origination of hostile munitions.•Conducted temperature testing during system operation, in order to investigate the effects of varying detection thresholds at various temperatures.•Analyzed previously recorded system data to enhance the radar’s detection signal integrity, reliability, and efficiency.•Completed classes dealing with real-time QNX operating systems, airborne/ground radar theory, and optical/RF systems.
