My main post-doctoral research focus was focused on attempting to develop myeiloid derived progenitor cell from uncommitted haematopoeitic stem cell as novel stem cell treatment for GVHD to eliminate use of older medicines such as cladribine which have undesirable side effects and do not last indefinitely until host eventually begins to attack transplanted organ. MDSC’s are thought to permanently prevent GVHD s/p transplant. During my time I attempted to conduct research for my true passion that was to utilise the resources to look for sickle cell anemia cure using stem cell technology. Unfortunately, obtaining grants for this research are very difficult to receive approval. My role did not involve handling political disputes involving use of stem cell technology to discover cures for debilitating, sometimes rare diseases, as such, I developed very little experience in the political landscape of research politics.
