About Igor Susmelj
I've always had a passion for technology and robotics.During my time at high school, I discovered my passion for coding and entrepreneurship. To extend my knowledge I studied electrical engineering at ETH Zurich. During the bachelor, I got the opportunity to participate in a focus project building an exoskeleton for paraplegics (varileg.ch) and was the board member for IT at AMIV, the biggest student association of our university. Before my masters, I worked in the innovation lab at SIX group where I worked closely with Startups, scouted new trends and technologies and built prototypes. While pursuing my master's degree I continued working at SIX part-time, helped to organize the biggest fintech hackathon in Switzerland and bringing emerging technologies such as machine learning closer to the company.Towards the end of my studies, I co-founded the non-profit Unicorn Labs and was a teaching assistant. I had two very successful semester projects, an RNN speech recognition chip (publication CICC), ABC-GAN (publication ICML), Object Placement (publication ECCV).I'm currently working at the ETH spin-off Lightly and blogging.
