Elbrus Expedition

The main aim of this first expedition was to help raise the profile and gain funds to enable our military leavers a way of transitioning to meaningful employment. I fronted the expedition and wrote a real time blog for the website day to day throughout the event. The 6000 mile return drive to and climbing of Mount Elbrus ( Europe's highest mountain ) was the first event for the charity. Aside from keeping myself in optimum condition physically and mentally to preform at this level there is also week to week individual strategic team performance analysis, I also undertake many corporate and community tasks as well as all forms of media representation to enhance the clubs brand.

I represented the Ospreys for over 6 years winning 2 league titles and the EDF cup in Twickenham.The environment and the players we had produced a very high percentage of test match players and success on the field, and commercially off it seeing some of the highest replica jersey sales figures in the UK amongst other things. I gained my level 3 coaching certificate and volunteered and coached the regional Under 18's team in which many players transitioned through to senior and International rugby. I also used to present the online pre match previews that went out on the official world wide website promoting the impending event. I was used in many marketing events and am still used even after my departure as the face of positive waste recycling in Swansea.

I represented Wales as an International Rugby union test player over 13 seasons gaining 64 full test caps and 8 "A" caps. I took part in everything involved with playing test rugby. Aside from the physical and mental demands of the high pressure environment that is test match rugby I also took part in many media and marketing campaigns, as well as community projects and a DVD covering nutrition and healthy eating for children. My role had me cover many corporate and commercial responsibilities including box and company visits as well as functions in British consulates around the world.

Having transitioned to a regional rugby format from the old club rugby system as a player I/we had to take on board the extra responsibilities of not only playing to a high standard but being part of the marketing strategy of a new entity. Alongside rugby playing duties I was heavily involved in all forms of media duties to enhance the brand as well as many innovative community schemes that influenced the motivation of young children in many aspects including health and wellness.
