As a licensed and regulated Immigration Consultant, I have specific experience related to Canadian immigration law (IRPA) and to the Regulations ("Regs") that guide the decision-making of Canadian visa and immigration officers with respect to issuing immigration documents to foreign nationals. I have worked on numerous complex immigration files representing international students, foreign workers, refugees, and visitors to Canada. In addition, I represent Canadian employers seeking to employ foreign (skilled) workers, managing the complicated process of obtaining the positive labour market impact assessment (LMIA) typically required when hiring foreign workers in Canada. My work with Canada's future permanent residents and Canadian citizens teaches me to value even more the institutions that I represent through iHeartCanada. Since 2017, my work in Colombia and Brazil has involved partnering with Canadian universities and colleges in order to develop student and faculty recruitment channels as well as creating more meaningful relationships with education institutions in Latin American countries. The ultimate purpose is to recruit the next generation of Canadian citizens. The end result is a kind of "cultural diplomacy," the idea that iHeartCanada pursues strategically important, and ethically driven, relationships with international partners that advance Canada's education and cultural institutions. This beacon of hope - that Canada represents one of the last true multicultural countries in the world - echoes the spirit of immigration consulting at the heart of iHeartCanada: we work to inspire dreams realized through finely developed and knowledgable immigration strategies.

POLS 4300: Human Rights, Ethics, and Development

I teach courses related to the Certificate in Immigration: Laws, Policies, and Procedures program at UBC. This program thoroughly prepares future Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants to knowledgeably and ethically represent their clients before Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the Immigration and Refugee Board, and the Canadian Border Services Agency. My approach to teaching this program emphasizes that a successful immigration practice depends on cultivating a professional reputation built on competency, integrity, and honesty.

My work in immigration intersects closely with my research interests in global higher education. At ISRC I provide licensed immigration services (study permits, visas, work permits) for 200-250 international students and their dependents, both in Canada and overseas. As an ICEF-trained education counsellor for both Canadian and US markets, I also help my organization with student recruitment and retention strategies.
