With the merge of Oregon Iron Works and Vigor Industrial, the OIW Metrology Department with its specialized equipment and measurement techniques, has expanded its role and combined assets with Vigor to establish Vigor Metrology; providing support to the entire Vigor family of companies across all locations.Metrology Manager Responsibilities:• Manage department personnel, and departmental priorities; resolving interpersonal and interdepartmental conflicts, scheduling, etc.• Provide technical direction to Metrology personnel in inspection, production support, and fabrication support activities across all corporate locations.• Train new employees on equipment, quality systems controls, and job role. Continue ongoing training with existing employees, encouraging growth and advancement.• Internal / external customer liaison for inspection / quality related questions, GD&T usage and applications, customer and regulatory audits, and provide information to internal and external requests for information (RFI).• Maintain and verify Quality Systems compliance for all work, inspections, procedures and processes performed by department personnel. • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Superintendents, and customers; advising on inspection techniques, methodologies, and relevance to project scope. Work to identify potential areas of concern, while using resources efficiently and effectively.• Work with department managers, executives, and sales team to understand capabilities of department and how to best utilize current resources / source expanded resources.• Negotiate with vendors, contractors and customers on pricing, scheduling timelines, conflicts, and any other Metrology related exchanges, maintaining the company’s best interests.• Provide job estimation, new product planning, process development, and long term planning.

Responsible for the management, operations & scheduling of Metrology Department personnel and resources (including 7 FARO Laser Trackers, 2 FARO Arms, and 1 DEA Delta gantry CMM).Perform setup, in-process, and final acceptance inspection of manufactured and fabricated products, utilizing FARO laser trackers and portable CMM's (FARO Arm). Products range from small palm sized components, to large 50 - 100 ton weldments and assemblies for the Commercial, Defense, Marine, Nuclear, and Transit industries.Programmer for DEA Delta Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) with 2.5m x 2.5m x 1.8m work envelope and volumetric accuracy of 16 microns/m.Provide training on use of CMM and FARO equipment, as well as general managerial responsibilities, including; • Supervise inspection activities of department personnel, and certify correct processes and procedures are maintained per customer / contract requirements. • Develop, validate, and authorize processes, procedures, and software programs (as applicable) for inspection activities.
