Ike Messmore focuses his practice on complex litigation matters, including appeals and advanced motions, class action litigation defense, and commercial and product liability defense. He works to defend manufacturers of products from many industries, including motor vehicles, chemical products, and industrial power-generation equipment. With his verbal prowess and an innate ability to recognize the importance of even the smallest details of a case, Ike excels at handling all stages of complex litigation. Notably, he prepared briefing that achieved dismissal of all claims in excess of $1 million in an $11 million commercial dispute over a power-plant explosion. He also prepared briefing for a high-profile trade-secrets case before the Minnesota Supreme Court; developed strategy and prepared briefing that helped achieve severance and transfer, and then dismissal, in a large shareholder-derivative suit; prepared motions that narrowed the scope of the proposed plaintiffs' class in a national consumer products class action; and directed investigation and early evaluation in a high-exposure vehicular manslaughter case. Ike's shrewd approach to case strategy prompted him to help design and implement a class action analytical tool for the firm that helps clients evaluate current class action issues and plan for the future.Ike is an active member of the DRI Young Lawyers Committee, where he serves as the online community co-chair. He also serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Hennepin County Sheriff Foundation and is a firm captain for Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid's annual associate fundraising campaign.Outside of work, Ike enjoys being outdoors, riding his motorcycle, reading, and playing with his German Shepherd, Odin.
