Banglalink enters the devices business with two broad objectives in mind – increase penetration of 3G enable handsets in the network and use low-end handsets to attract new customers. I took up the challenge to achieve these two difficult tasks.Core Responsibilities• Relationship Management: Build a network with all device manufacturers, importers, distributors as having very good relationship with all stakeholders in the whole ecosystem is a must.• Align with group level initiatives: We achieved a lot of synergies through group wide procurement, reporting, knowledge sharing. Vimpelcom is good at spreading its global vision through local expertise.• Ensure Operational Excellence: Prepare processes for smooth Sales and other operations. Since this is a new unit, a lot of coordination and processes are to be developed.

Head of the Roaming Unit of Orascom Telecom Bangladesh Limited. Major responsibilities:1. Enhance revenue, margin, 2. Manage roaming product portfolio, 3. Customer acquisition and retention.4. Ensure proper knowledge distribution across the organization (Technical, Finance, IT, Customer Care) for smooth roaming operations.Achievements:1. Roaming revenue shows continuous growth for last 3 years. Starting as a distant number 3 in the market, Banglalink is now very close to the market leader in terms of revenue.2. Banglalink now have the most number of roaming solutions in the market.

• Responsible for managing the roaming business of Banglalink. Major responsibilities include preparing road-map for Roaming, identify opportunities and prepare pricing proposals to enhance revenue & margin.• Negotiated and signed preferential pricing agreements with large operators. Revenue increased more than 40% as a direct consequence of the pricing agreements signed.• Introduced GPRS Roaming and CAMEL Prepaid Roaming, SMS Roaming, Safe Arrival SMS, Roaming Info Service, Roaming Loyalty Programs, In flight and Maritime Roaming and other services.• Signed roaming agreements with 350+ operators worldwide.

I joined Warid Telecom to supervise the launch of the roaming service. I prepared process documents and coordinated efforts of different departments.I returned to Banglalink after a very short stint (2 months) at Warid.

Major responsibilities includes signing roaming agreements with operators, launch commercial roaming with important operators, introduce various services for inbound and outbound roamers* Introduced International Roaming service in 111 countries through proxy solution.* Signed roaming agreements with more than 150 operators worldwide* Launched commercial roaming with 100 operators worldwide in 10 months.* Introducing International SMS with 640 operators in 171 countries.

Major responsibilities:Develop a solution to introduce International Roaming covering 100+ countries.Achievement:Developed a solution which will give CityCell CDMA customers access to 170+ GSM networks across the globe.Collect necessary regulatory approvals for introducing Int’l Roaming from regulators.

Major responsibilities:Identify new products and services and prepare product plans.Achievement: Developed and implemented the following products and services– a) Cash Card: Bill Payment using scratch cards, b) Aamar Phone: A postpaid package intended for PCO segment. c) Mail@Mobile: Enables customers to send and receive e-mail on his phone. d) Various SMS Push-Pull based services like Cricket Score updates, jokes, news service.
