Sole proprietor of educational consulting firm; I an I Resource, which provides professional development and support to educators to integrate empowering pedagogy into programming, curriculum, school and organizational culture. I've been fortunate to work with thousands of young people and many wonderful organizations such as Bay Area Coalition for Equitable Schools, E3, Oakland Unified School District, California Tomorrow, Community Educational Services, Linking San Francisco and the SF Volunteer Center.

• Develop and teach Interdisciplinary Writing and Research Course for Graduate and Undergraduate students with a focus on diversity, including gender, race, class, and ethnicity.• Help students develop an understanding of the relationships among diversity, inequality, and justice; demonstrate an understanding of the effects of global interdependence and the role of migration and immigration, economic, political, and cultural globalization on contemporary societies; and demonstrate familiarity with the historical contributions of traditionally marginalized groups to contemporary ideas, values and culture.

• Facilitated program restructuring, curriculum design, evaluation and staff professional development to integrate youth empowerment approach and critical pedagogy into student academic advising, tutoring, summer school, and all other program activities. • Recruited, trained and supported teaching and residential staff to guide low-income high school students and their families through high school and college. • Recruited high school students and taught new student orientation course to inspire youth of color to become activists in their own pursuit of education and to affect social change through educational advocacy.• Maintained presence and network with community partners and school administration at local high schools.

• Coordinated Academic Performance Training for 140 student-athletes at McClymonds High School. Recruited, trained and supported volunteer and peer tutors to assist student-athletes with homework, studying and skill development. Created curriculum and facilitated study groups for CAHSEE, SAT, College Research as well as Nutrition and Fitness while tracking outcomes.• Developed and coordinated Sprint2College for high school Seniors to apply to college. Recruited, trained and supported volunteer college-advisors to advise students through college essay, application and financing process. Coordinated caseload and advisor schedules, materials, documentation and evaluation of services.• Designed College Playbook for student-athletes College Conditioning to guide and document students’ readiness, access and persistence in college and career.• Conducted academic, college, and career advising meetings with students to plan and document high-school progress. Provided trauma-informed motivational counseling and support to student-athletes and parents including management of student portfolios.

• Facilitated West Oakland Educational Task Force; a collaboration between the schools of West Oakland, their teachers, students, principals, parents and community organizations with the Oakland Unified School district to ensure rigorous, safe, equitable, schools through a community driven communication forum to inform educational excellence in West Oakland. • Developed 12-week leadership development curriculum for Parent Leadership Engagement Academy and led ten academies graduating over 50 parents to lead education reform in West Oakland.

• Supported and honed leadership skills of school principals to become powerful instructional leaders who create equitable schools. • Helped school leaders learn how to be more effective in their work, connect them to their passion and commitment, keep leaders informed with relevant research, provide structured reflection and document best practice to maximize capacity at the school site. • Provided technical assistance to public schools in the reform process via school redesign proposals, curriculum development, professional development, team teaching, and decision-making.

• Designed and implemented pedagogical seminars for USF graduate students participating in Teacher Education for the Advancement of a Multicultural Society (TEAMS). Recruit people of color nationally to pursue teaching credentials and to work in public schools. • Conducted training for 7 participating Universities (West Coast), through Teacher Education, to incorporate the Youth Empowerment Approach into K-12 content learning, including service-learning and youth development. • Developed community with, and coordinate 600 Fellows participating in TEAMS/ Americorps. • Documented and evaluated student outcomes for grant reporting and overall program development. Developed curriculum for web site to facilitate TEAMS’ network of teacher/students, in an effort to connect K-12 students involved in the Youth Empowerment Approach across California and Washington State.

• Developed the Youth Empowerment Approach and Revitalizing Education And Learning (REAL) program. Raise annual budget. Hire, train and supervise staff to meet annual objectives. • Designed and directed REAL Leaders program; recruit, select, train and place youth interns in classrooms to work in partnership with teachers using the Youth Empowerment Approach. • Responsibilities included writing activity manuals for classroom curriculum, supervise 15 staff members, design and implement evaluation process, facilitate teacher professional development program including team teaching in public school classrooms, recruit Advisory Board and convene four annual meetings, initiate individual donor drive and maintain database, conduct local, national and international training and workshops.

• Teach African American Cultural Literacy course geared towards improving reading and writing skills of low-income urban youth. Explore Black history and culture to build self-esteem, awareness and stronger community.

• Advised and coordinated Linking San Francisco city-wide Youth Advisory Council to incorporate youth voice into SF non-profits and K-12 curriculum. Administered $1/2 million Americorps grant, overseeing expenditures of collaborative organizations and corresponding with government agencies.

• Co-founded the campus Rape Prevention Education Program. Scheduled and facilitated campus outreach sessions and rape prevention education workshops. • Organized campus-wide activities such as gallery openings, public speaking engagements and fundraising events.
