Providing research consultation in a study offering a comprehensive assessment of implicit bias in the process of advancement, promotions and tenure (APT) in academic medicine. The proposed study seeks to target the “gate keepers” to academic promotions. Using robust research methodology and guided by national subject matter experts, the study will yield an evidence-based framework of understanding whether and how implicit bias impedes academic promotions for underrepresented minority scientists allowing for system’s change, better selection and training of APT committee members and a reformed academic culture which better rewards public service, teaching and social sciences.
