İlay Alpgiray was born on 12th August 1987 in Istanbul. He started directing when his electronic music video has accepted from MTV Music channel, while he was still a student in the University. He drew attention with his short films and as a result being recognized by producers. He started to work some TV programmes and seriouses in Turkey. After shooting many clips and commercial films, he turned to fashion industry and started making fashion films.With his fashion films, he has won official selections from film festivals such as New York, London, Seattle, Sarajevo, Dominic Republic and Istanbul. He officially has received the Best Film Design award at the Washington Fashion Film Festival and became award-winning Turkish director.İlay Alpgiray directs documentaries and dramas on TV and digital platforms. In addition to that, he is the advertising director of many brands.At the same time, he was a finalist in Cannes after receiving awards in Berlin and Toronto with a film he shot for the 100th anniversary of our Republic. Nowadays, while he continues to work in Turkey, he is also attracting attention with his new works in the U.S. He continues to work periodically between Turkey and the U.S. with his films with brands such as Nintendo and Made Good.
