Art & Architecture Intro course

The BAR conservation lab is responsible for the stabilization and preservation of artifacts in the state’s archaeological collection. Annually, the laboratory conserves numerous artifacts collected from state lands and waters. Its services are contracted by outside federal, state and local agencies as well private individuals.The Conservation Lab is specially equipped and designed to accommodate and stabilize both large and small objects. Artifact material types range from metals (iron, copper, tin, lead, silver and gold) to inorganic materials including wood, leather, rope and textile. The lab typically treats artifacts such as cannons, anchors, prehistoric Native American canoes, cannonballs, artillery shells, architectural components, guns, bayonets, leather shoes, and coins.

. Examined and documented the condition and construction of an array of three-dimensional Pre Columbian objects . Performed conservation operations on archaeological organic and inorganic artworks (gold, stone, bone, and natural resin).Presented objects' condition assessment reports including matters related to collections management, pest management, in-house storage conditions, as well as safety in the workplace.

Prepared graphic and photographic documentation for ethnographic objects.Developed objects' survey -report consisting of written documentation of all objects' detailed condition assessment, conservation history, and treatment proposals which included recommendations for ideal environmental conditions, storage, display, safety and handling.

• Documented and prepared condition assessment report for a group of historical buildings within the Merv archaeological Park.• Conserved, and stabilized an array of small findings under the guidance of conservators from The Heritage Without Borders and the UCL Institute of Archaeology.http://www.ucl.ac.uk/merv

Assisted in the preparation and organization of the 2013 Forum on Conservation Science.Created, researched and edited a variety of documents regarding the Forum's participants' biographies and their body of published work

Training intern under the International Conservation Center. Working with a diverse group of professionals from both, the International Conservation Center of Acre and the Israel Antiquities Authority in the following areas:Documentation - theory and practiceConservation- archaeological perspectiveResearch and analysis of ancient buildings- zoning, cultural heritage (tangible and intangible), archeological conservation, antiquities laws in Israel.Practical workshops in: mud brick building, plaster, and ancient mosaics.1. Repointing on walls at King's David Tomb in Jerusalem2. Cleaning of ancient mosaics at the Rockefeller Museum, IAA Art Labs, Jerusalem, IL3. Repairing of mud walls at ancient monastery, Gvoat, IL4. Stabilization of ancient stone floors.

Completed team graphic and photographic documentation of a 17th century building under the guidance of architects, and preservationists from the University of Florida. Participated in public presentations with community stakeholders debating on the condition of local structures, as well as presenting conservation viable alternatives for their preservation.
