Today, pursuing software development as a career is reduced down to a numbers game, a very punishing one - unfortunately. The talent supply is way over the demand!Falsely we believe that courses, books, university will solve the problem of landing the tech job. In a mature market, persuasion skills matter far more than certificates, diplomas and theoretical knowledge. If anything, chasing the latter reinforces the belief that one is not good enough to begin with, therefore are counter-productive and should be avoided.Instead, applying what you already know is far better than accumulating new knowledge and skills to better your offering. In fact, the only time one should seek to gain new knowledge and skills is only when they hit an Information Problem (not knowing how to handle the task at hand). The very ability to quickly research and assess new information on the go is pure gold.For anyone skeptical to believe, I'd suggest reading the £100M Offers by Alex Hormozi. He explains clearly the importance of Market, Offer and Persuasion. In the digital age, the software market is quite flattened, and everyone has just as good offer as you do thanks to AI. Simply put, chasing certificates is too much work for too little reward. And you, certainly, don't have the time for it.
