Dr. Eng. Ilias (Elias) Panagiotopoulos is an Associate Professor in the Division of Mathematics and Engineering Sciences in the Hellenic Army Academy (HAA). He obtained his Mechanical and Aeronautics Engineering Degree (2002) and his PhD in Aerospace – Aeronautics Engineering (2009), both from the Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics Department, University of Patras, Greece. He also holds a PhD in Intelligent Transport Systems and Cognitive Vehicles (2020) from the Informatics and Telematics Department, Harokopio University of Athens, Greece. His primary research fields are Aerospace and Aeronautics Technology, Unmanned Aerial Systems, Exterior Ballistics, Flight Mechanics and Aerodynamics, while other fields include Intelligent Transportation Systems and Services, Urban Air Mobility, Cognitive Vehicles and Vehicle Automation Technology. He has already accumulated extended experience by participating in large-scale EU-funded research projects and collaborating with wide international scientific teams. He has over 80 publications in International Journals and Conference Proceedings. He is a reviewer of several international journals and conferences. In addition, he has over 15 years of academic experience by working as an Adjunct Lecturer in Higher Education Organizations. Moreover, he has over 12 years of professional experience in Hellenic Police Forensic Science Division by working as a Mechanical Engineer / Certified Vehicle Identification Expert.
