Copper Views Film Productions engages with themes like globalisation, us vs them, ethics, power relations, visualisation, reflection and cultural encounters. With our documentaries, we want to make the viewer aware of his or her own thinking about – and relation to – the subject to eventually contribute to a better mutual understanding.Previously, we made Framing the Other, (25 minutes), a short documentary about tourism and its complex relations with native people. It exposes the intriguing thoughts of a Mursi woman from Southern Ethiopia and a Dutch tourist during their preparations of an encounter. This results in a worrying and, at the same time, moving setting.Besides documentaries, we also design Education Packages for higher education. As a former lecturer at NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences producer Ilja Kok knows the value of using documentaries (or other types of media) in classroom settings in order to inspire, create new perspectives and provoke different and touching discussions.
