Based in Geneva, Dubai and in Istanbul, Ilker Baburoglu, both in personal and corporate capacity, has been heavily working to improve and contribute to energy security and reliability for various challenged communities. Ilker was named a 2022 Millennium Leadership Fellow by the Atlantic Council. He is currently serving as a co-founder, senior executive at various multi-national energy & commodity trading companies. Ilker has a diverse background in consulting, mega-project development, investments in natural resources, power generation, and critical infrastructure projects, especially in emerging markets. He previously held senior-level positions at multinational groups based in Europe, UK, Turkey, Zambia, Iraq, and UAE, some of which he represented at various World Economic Forum meetings. He previously served as the executive director of an international advisory and investment firm that was one of the founding members of World Economic Forum Global Growth Companies initiative. Having lived on 3 different continents, he originated social-impact projects in the energy, mining, and infrastructure sectors, and managed investments in Middle East and Africa. He co-founded an investment company in Africa to contribute to responsible mining and hydrocarbon projects. He further organized and led high-level diplomatic and commercial events to achieve closer socioeconomic relations between various regions. He is dedicated to good corporate governance and capacity-building efforts to encourage inclusive economic growth and social development in challenging geographies. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School, Koc University, and Bogazici University. He is a member of Chatham House (Royal Institute of International Affairs), and a member of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).He is very much interested in cooperating with the leaders and corporations who are committed in tackling global challenges, and further interested to brainstorm on the global trends.
