I was working in Digitalization and Process Services unit with Energy Markets functions. I was responsible for designing and maintaining solution architecture and the target architecture landscape for Optimization functions in Fortum. In this area Fortum had started a digitalization journey and this was a focus area for the company. We were working on digitalization and increased automation of the physical power trading and dispatching of the power fleet to manage operations when the markets went increasingly towards shorter time horizons.I led the implementation of required technologies and integrations to other systems and consult with applications and infrastructure development (projects) to fit systems to Architecture.

Our team was responsible for delivering high quality service and projects to Fortum’s Hydro and Power Technology division’s Production Optimization and Trading (POT) and Renewables operations.I was responsible for managing the PLC/HMI network for Finland. I also managed and developed the SCADA system for the Finnish Dispatch Centre. In addition the work included coordinating, managing and developing refurbishment projects for Finnish Hydro Power plants.

My work in in Automation & Electrics department consisted of managing and developing user interface and monitoring applications for different platforms. I was also a technical specialist who gave assistance to developers in our department as well as people in other departments who conducted development work.

I was working with the automation software research team. My job involved work with the RTG crane control system as well as user interface development. During the job I attended to many parts of the project, designing, implementing and testing of the crane software.During this time I was also involved in several research projects. Main topics were web UI and web service applications, different sensor and hardware component tests and condition monitoring unit development. In the summertime I worked full-time. During semesters I worked few days a week.

I was working in VTT with the ITER dtp2 project. The goal of the project was to provide a reliable and sustainable maintenance system to the divertor cassettes at the fusion reactor core. My job involved of UI designing and coding as well as helping with the project test runs.
