I'm an experienced journalist specializing in domestic politics and EU issues. I’m a staff writer at Nykypäivä monthly magazine and Verkkouutiset online newssite. From 2007 to 2010 I was based in Brussels as the correspondent for Maaseudun Tulevaisuus newspaper. I'm comfortable in working for both print and online and both in Finnish and in English. My background is in forestry and in agricultural issues (Master's degree in 1997 and several years covering forestry in Maaseudun Tulevaisuus newspaper). Both agriculture and forestry have been, and still are, at the core of the European Union and therefore an essential part of my work also today.In 2007 I spent four months in California, USA, as part of my training for Innovation Journalism program. During that time I took part in courses at Stanford University and worked for Red Herring magazine and website.I studied creative writing at Kriittinen korkeakoulu, Helsinki, for three years 2012–2014 and 2015–2016.Over the years I've played in several bands. Currently I'm guitarist and co-singer in a band called The EU-Correspondents.
