Western Children’s service the western suburbs and surrounds with practices in Laverton and Sydenham. Additionally, in conjunction with the Department of Education, the allied health team also travel to regional towns surrounding Bacchus Marsh and Ballan to implement group-based therapy in schools.My role at WCHC involved supporting children to participate in self-care, productivity and leisure occupations. This included a large focus on sensory and emotional regulation to increase occupational engagement in school-based occupations. Throughout this experience the necessity of family centered care was emphasized to ensure a high quality service provision whilst promoting the generalization of therapy within the home environment. Throughout this placement, I was also responsible for the timely completion of documentation and report writing for submission to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). This opportunity was imperative to provide telehealth experience during the covid pandemic.
