• Starting my own business has me creating new designs, and then making them technically viable using a combination of hand drawing, model making, wax carving and CAD programmes. My work has included trend research, mood boards, and archiving new and existing designs ideas. The development of my first range uses my knowledge of dimensions and costs, and my strong design aesthetic to create a stunning new range. It has taught me how to motivate myself and how to work to tight deadlines. I also work to commission and have enjoyed and learnt a lot from the experience.

• JewelCast is a state of the art precious metals casting house, specialising in Platinum, Palladium, Gold and Silver, with in house C.A.D and rapid prototyping. I carry out a whole range of duties. Two days a week I work in the casting department where my duties include, spruing and treeing up waxes/resins ready for casting. Quality control of all items cast before booking out to customer and laser welding any defects in the cast pieces or repair jobs .• For the rest of the week I work in the C.A.D department. Readying customers C.A.D files for building on our our EnvisionTEC’s Perfactory® 4 Standard XL 3D Printer. Occasionally I will be asked to create a piece for a customer from a drawing or written instructions. Having an excellent understanding of manufacturing and construction processes, and great attention to detail enables me to turn our customer’s drawings into a 3D model ready for printing .I use Matrix 8 for the design process and Magics to ready the designs for the build .Through recorded trials I have perfected the clean-up and “cook” of our resins to achieve best results from the casting process. I have learnt so much while working here and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute.

I interned two days a week at the Hannah Martin workshop, in the jewellery centre of London, Hatton Garden, assisting the production manager.My main role was bench work. Cleaning of castings, soldering and readying her “Show” range for its final finish. I also did Hatton garden runs, procuring precious stones for projects. Taking certain pieces for polishing, hallmarking, stone setting thus developing a network of craftsmen and developing contacts within the industry. And finally on occasion delivering finished pieces to the clients.
