Ilonka is a Specialist in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia. Ilonka is Founder and Director of MindBodyPainSpecialists (Heidelberg, Melbourne) and acting Director of the Pain Service at Austin Health, a major teaching public hospital located in Melbourne's north eastern suburb of Heidelberg. Ilonka has played an integral role in the development of the Peri-operative and Transitional pain clinic at Austin Health. She has a strong interest in peri-operative pain and medication optimisation, interventional pain treatments, cancer pain and palliative care and is passionate about growing and expanding integrated pain services in the public sector. Ilonka is skilled in Clinical Research, Medical Education, Coaching, and Healthcare Management. Her main research focus lies in interventional pain medicine in the peri-operative population, cancer pain and the health economic benefits of pain and medication optimisation for patients both pre-and postoperatively. Other specific areas of interests include:• Interventional pain management of knee, shoulder and pelvic pain• Complex regional pain syndrome and• Persistent post-surgical pain e.g. post-lumbar fusion or total knee replacement.
