Landforce is a non-profit organization that:1. Provides employment opportunities for people with barriers to employment, including limited income and education levels, homelessness, former incarceration, refugees and military veterans while supporting their search for permanent family-sustaining wages; and 2. Serves as a professional and knowledgeable crew to help steward vacant land, public parks, land trust properties, greenways, and planned green infrastructure through such activities as trail construction, habitat restoration, vacant land management, bioswale and green infrastructure maintenance, tree planting, tree care, and vegetable garden construction.

Developed Pittsburgh's newest regional park, Emerald View Park, on 257-acres of land overlooking downtown Pittsburgh on land that was once mined, denuded of vegetation, dumped on and inhabited. This included raising $4.5 million of investment and overseeing the construction of 8 miles of hillside trails, planting more than 6,000 trees, removal of 250,000 pounds dumped garbage, more than 10,000 hours of volunteer service, and the creation of the well-respected Emerald Trail Corps, a green jobs program for at-risk adults in Pittsburgh.

Designed and taught wide range of university anthropology courses including, Environment & Development, Introduction to Africa, Introduction to Anthropology, and Work around the World.

STAR Research Fellow (Environmental Protection Agency), conducting anthropological dissertation research in Zambia on the relationships between actors in Zambian community-based wildlife conservation and the role history and perceptions of "other" play in community development.

Designed and established a country-wide elephant conservation and monitoring program in Ethiopia, resulting in policy recommendations to the national government.

Established a database of continent-wide African elephant projects for the African Elephant Conservation Coordinating Group, a collaborative of the Wildlife Conservation Society, World Wildlife Fund, IUCN, WCMS, African Wildlife Foundation, and other international organizations. Assisted in the organization of a continent-wide meeting of elephant range states and international donors to facilitate the support of programs and projects to conserve African elephants.
