As an engineering manager I lead a cross functional team that spanned both Zipcar and Avis, charged with building and supporting a global telematics hub with kubernetes and kafka to enable Avis's connected fleet of over 300k vehicles to transmit real time telemetry data to a single cloud based location for consumption across the organization. During this time I also co-lead Zipcar's "DevOps & SRE" team charged with building, supporting, and optimizing the cost and performance of Zipcar's cloud infrastructure.Previously, I co-lead the "core" team which was responsible for the collection of ~30 micro-services that were common across all of our different business verticals.

Working on and leading the DevOps team I helped support and improve the company's custom Open Source Cloud Foundry infrastructure responsible for hosting over 5000 containers. This included everything from working on open source projects, managing servers, being part of our on-call rotation, mentoring other engineers, and improving our custom Diego scheduler written in Golang.Over time, my team and I used our experience at Avis to migrate Zipcar off of our "legacy" Cloud Foundry environment and onto Kubernetes. We also rolled out Terraform and automation in Terraform Cloud across the both Avis and Zipcar. This effort included back porting manually created infrastructure to IAC using custom modules and repository structures. Our team's primary goals were to deliver seamless self-service developer experiences while improving overall architecture and stability. Across all environments we were responsible for over 8,000 containers, hundreds of k8s nodes, and hundreds of Terraform workspaces.

Before taking on this role I worked with the management team to restructure the company and pivot the Web Applications business unit into a broader Technical Partnerships group focused on developing long term relationships with our customer’s engineering teams. As a developer at CGI Interactive I helped pitch and build custom solutions using a wide range of technology stacks for our clients who ranged from small startups and charities to large multinational Fortune 500 companies. As the HRA I was responsible for a staff of 7 RAs in one of the most “high traffic” dorms on campus and the leader of House Council, an elected body of students that manage dorm wide activities and morale. As the dorm's computer consultant I was charged with the diagnosis and repair of all machines in my residence hall of approximately 200 students. This job also involved shifts at the campus help desk providing both phone and in person support to the campus' 2700+ students and 500+ faculty and staff.

Bose had a brand new amplifier (the L1) available for musicians, but no infrastructure to connect potential customers to places they could demo it. The live music division brought me in to create “Project DemoFinder”: a dynamic web application (remember when we called them that!) used by Bose customer service to search for and manage demo location data. The project was backed by a mySQL database, and interfaced with the Google Maps API V1 (pre-geocode service) to manage and categorize demo locations and provide driving directions with travel time.
