He held key roles at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Census Bureau, 24horas Newspaper, and Status Marketing. Alves holds 20 years of non-profit service and leadership experience, including with the American Red Cross, SEEDS Scholars, and others. Alves earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science and a master's degree in Global Affairs and Economics from Rutgers University-Newark. Alves has published in academic journals, presented at international conferences and taught classes in political science, sociology and media/communications. His research focus was sustainable capitalism and multi-modal power relations.Igor was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and grew up in an immigrant neighborhood of Newark, NJ - where he is an evangelist for the city, social entrepreneurs, artists, changemakers and empathetic dreamers everywhere.
