As Cloudera's Big Data evangelist, I worked with hundreds of our enterprise customers worldwide to achieve and measure business value from their use of Cloudera's data management products. I advised and guided organizations on how to identify their differentiated data / use cases, adopt data solutions and how to build enterprise-wide, repeatable data and analytics delivery capabilities. I also helped our customers identify and address process and organizational barriers that could impact their adoption of data and analytical solutions.

The Nokia Big Data group focused on driving best practices and technologies that put data at the center of Nokia innovations. As the leader of the Big Data Team, my accomplishments cover three core components:• Led the definition, development and adoption of the Nokia Big Data Analytics platform, a petabyte-scale platform, combining NoSQL and Hadoop (using CDH) with SQL aggregation engines and tools, running in Nokia data centers. The platform scaled to run 10s of thousands of map-reduce jobs a day. Led team in building proof-of-concept for delivering similar services via EMR/EC2 in AWS, including cost comparisons. • Partnered across Nokia and the industry to build a centralized Big Data asset, documented via an in-house developed data asset catalog. Led the definition of data sharing requirements for Nokia’s smartphone partnership with Microsoft. Responsible for the definition and development of data governance around that Big Data asset, including data glossary, master data management, privacy/security/retention/quality policies. Built the data asset to multiple petabytes, with 10s of terabytes ingested weekly, and 10s of terabytes produced via analytical processes.• Built a team of data scientists that delivered clear insights to address the company's pressing business opportunities using analytics. Focused in the area of 'location analytics', building place recommendation models and rich place profiles for use in varied applications. Analytical methods included descriptive and predictive modeling, including machine learning.

Led the services marketing organization, which means product management, outbound marketing, and sales enablement for Sun's $5B services business. Built a high-performance team of great people, developed the Sun services brand and evangelized Sun services with industry press and analysts, fueled demand generation with services-led campaigns, drove awareness through social media, including blogs, facebook and virtual reality meetings via SecondLife.

Developed business plans for Sun Software and Storage Business Units to drive change and help communicate with financial and industry analysts about monetization of open source software. Responsible for the marketing integration of MySQL acquisition, to enable 60+% growth in business in first year post-acquisition. Led market intelligence teams to deliver consolidated competitive data to sales and product management teams.

Defined and implemented storage product strategies and delivered multiple product releases to market.

Built IT infrastructure for dotcom retailer in 16-week timeframe prior to the peak holiday retail season.

Delivered systems and process enhancements against $25M technology investment. Worked with internal business partners to define Information Technology requirements for new services, including DSL, IP VPN, and VoIP. IT pilots of these new technologies resulted in the launch of market-leading wholesale transport and termination businesses.
