I am a public health communications expert focused on sharing plain language health information with a variety of audiences. My background in kinesiology, sexual/reproductive health and communication allows me to bridge the gap between scientific information and communicating with marginalized communities who need the information. In my current role as a communications specialist, I create plain language content for Medicare beneficiaries. I ensure that health content is accessible and easy to understand. I have experience working on social research projects, including writing, developing research plans, conducting research (interviews/focus groups/oral history), notetaking, and analyzing data to share and explain research findings.I am a third year Ph.D. student at Howard University in the Communication Culture and Media Studies program. My primary research interest includes critical health communications, Black maternal health, storytelling and social media technology affordances role in health communication. I primarily focus on qualitative and critical methods and enjoy doing social research in the communications field.
