I assisted in proofreading submissions to the Yale Law Journal for style and grammar, as well as ensuring correct citation formatting and submission anonymity.

I worked closely with legal fellows in CFJ's Queer Justice Project to thoroughly research the Rhode Island Commission for Human Rights and possibilities for combatting discrimination against LGBTQ+ individuals in the carceral system. I also contributed to compiling a resource guide for incarcerated queer people and conducting overall legal research on state- and federal-level protections for system-impacted trans and gender non-conforming individuals.

Through the Yale Office of LGBTQ+ Resources, I mentored and advised first-year students to help them navigate their transition to Yale.

I assisted in leading CDA's national Department of Political Affairs and work with a team of fellow students on event planning, outreach, and national field work.

As a member of College Democrats of CT's Statewide Executive Board, I was responsible for directing our organization's overall electoral and legislative strategy. I provided support to our college chapter organizations as they pursued both legislative advocacy and campaign work, and also developed and implemented our organization's field plan for the 2020 election cycle.

I worked closely with the office mitigation team in researching and writing social histories of clients, and also assisting in client interviews, collateral interviews, and overall mitigation research.

I worked remotely on a variety of policy-driven research projects with the Pride Center, with the goal of producing several published reports (on topics such as LGBTQ+ youth homelessness, police brutality and incarceration, and the economic impacts of COVID-19 on the LGBTQ+ community) for NHPC's Centerline magazine. I also participated in research and advocacy events for NHPC's 2021 programming surrounding International Women's Day.

As part of an undergraduate student working group on infrastructure policy, I studied state infrastructure banks and aided in the writing of a policy memo on current policy proposals and original state-level case study analysis.

Broad Recognition is Yale's intersectional feminist magazine, featuring annual print issues in addition to zines and online publication. I edited 3-4 articles per week and worked closely with writers to develop their writing, clarity, and ideas. As a board member, I also collaborated with our editor in chief and fellow associate editors to draft editorial statements, and review and develop our publication's direction and goals.

As a staff member, I write on wide variety of topics ranging from politics and university events to opinion and pop culture. In 2018, I originated a column for Broad Recognition entitled "What's the Tea?" which profiled female and non-binary Yale professors and shared their stories with fellow students and Yale community members. My work has been published both digitally and in Broad Recognition's print issues. Specific topics I have written on include: Yale's cultural house system and multiracial identity; the history of the Yale Women's Center and its relationship to coeducation; LGBTQ+ pride and the phenomenon of "rainbow/pink capitalism"; commentary on American nationalism; reviews of art and performance exhibitions at Yale. I worked remotely for All Our Kin as a 2020 Liman Fellow, and my work focused primarily on policy research and writing. I prepared fact sheets and other materials pertaining to family childcare in New York and Connecticut, and also took a close look at how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the childcare industry. My work also included assisting AOK as they advocated for increased federal funding for childcare, and other forms of state and federal relief for providers. During the summer and fall of 2020, I also helped to lead AOK's voter outreach efforts — I developed and led a webinar series for childcare providers on the voter registration process, and created social media materials encouraging providers to vote.

*further archival work postponed due to COVID-19The 2019-2020 school year marked the 50th anniversary of coeducation in Yale College, and as one of two selected research fellows I have been working to preserve and showcase the rich history of the Yale Women's Center. Our work has included cataloguing objects within the Women's Center and working closely with the staff of Yale Manuscripts and Archives to permanently preserve our findings. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused us to postpone our in-person archival work, but we organized a virtual gathering and "digital showcase" (featuring alums, current student leaders, and Women's Center founders) to celebrate the Center's 50th anniversary from afar.

I worked to provide information, materials, and assistance to members of my residential college regarding both voter registration and the 2020 Census. This work was done as part of a larger, campus-wide effort led by the Yale Votes Coalition (a non-partisan coalition of student organizations including the Yale College Democrats among others).

This year, I am participating in the Yale College Democrats legislative program and conducting my own policy research and advocacy project. My area of focus is healthcare policy, and I am specifically advocating for increased Medicaid reimbursement rates in the state of Connecticut. I have been working closely with state legislators and committee chairs to not only learn about the legislative process, but participate in it. My work thus far has included research on existing healthcare policies and the best-practices of other states (I have drafted a white paper on my subject), and meetings and workshops with legislators to best equip myself for effective advocacy. This project is continuing into the spring semester, as Connecticut's upcoming legislative session will begin in February 2020.

Topeka, Kansas Area

As an office-wide intern, I gained a wide variety of experience in different areas of the Governor's Office. My work ranged between Constituent Services, Operations & Scheduling, Policy, Communications, and Legal Counsel. I researched and wrote correspondence on a variety of policy-related issues such as: environmental policy and wind energy, public education funding, tax policy, disability services and Social Security, prison reform, etc. I also managed constituent casework, compiled legislative research, and assisted staff with special events. Specific accomplishments include drafting an Executive Order for the Chief Counsel, originating several policy-response form letters, and creating a database of voting information from the 2019 legislative session.

I worked for the Political Science FieldLab, under the direction of Professor Jason Lyall. I researched the ethnic breakdown of the Chinese military for Professor Lyall’s Military Inequality Project (MIP), andproduced weekly reports presenting my findings to a graduate research team. I coded & analyzed a total of 23 rows of data.

I was highly involved in the YMCA Youth & Government Program beginning in my sophomore year of high school. This mock-legislature program immersed me in government and policymaking, and allowed me to experience the legislative process firsthand. As a senior, I served in the program's highest leadership position, Youth Governor. In this role, I planned, organized, and led the 2017 Kansas statewide conference and attended the National Youth Governor's Conference in Washington, DC.

I was a member of the Shawnee Mission East Mock Trial Team for all four years of high school; as a sophomore, I advanced to the varsity-division and served as Team Captain, leading our team to a Regional Championship win in 2016. For the next two years, I served as the Lead Attorney of the team as well and consistently reached state-level competition.

Prairie Village, Ks

As a freshman, I founded the Shawnee Mission East High School Feminist Club and served as its President until my graduation. The mission of this organization was to promote gender justice in both our school community and the greater Kansas City area, and empower students to take action and effect change. Club activities included guest speaker events, donation drives, presentations by club members, small-group discussions, and volunteering with local activist organizations. Our largest projects centered on sexual assault prevention and consent education; we launched a school-wide awareness campaign to draw attention to sexual harassment on campus, share the stories of survivors, and demand accountability and justice from the administration. We also partnered with other student groups to organize a school-wide walkout in April 2018, protesting gun violence. I was a featured speaker at this event, and worked to encourage fellow high school students to become politically engaged and take part in community activism.

Kansas City, Missouri Area

I was a founding member of Junior Board of Greater Kansas City, a non-profit foundation which empowers middle and high school students to engage in philanthropy and research the non-profit world. In small groups, students choose a local non-profit agency to research over the course of a school year. At the end of the year, they give in-depth presentations over their agencies to a panel of judges (this panel is comprised of local non-profit executives and experts). The highest-scoring presentations earn grants of approx. $1000-$4000 to give to the non-profit they researched, with the top-three places earning the most money. All Junior Board prize money is raised by the students themselves, giving them not only research and presentation experience, but fundraising experience as well. Donations to Junior Board are made by local foundations, such as the Curry Family Foundation and Kauffman Foundation. I participated in this program as a middle school student, and was a leader in bringing it to a high school for the first time. I revised the Junior Board curriculum to better suit a high school audience, and spent four years expanding it throughout my school and district. Junior Board is now operating in the Greater Kansas City Area, with several participating middle and high schools.
