About Imanol R.
Imanol is a Telecommunications Engineer with a strong background in IoT, RFID, wired and wireless communications, and protocols. His degree was obtained from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB), and he had the opportunity to work on an IoT project at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) related to smart marinas as part of his final degree thesis. Furthermore, Imanol has also been a researcher in RFID technology at UOC and proudly collaborated on a paper for the IEEE RFID congress as part of his last working experience. Currently, he is finishing his Masters in Innovation and Research in Informatics (MIRI) at UPC while he works in the Predictable Parallel Computing group of the BSC (Barcelona Supercomputing Center) deploying 5G communicantion and containerized Network Functions on the edge. He is also teaching Networks and Services and Operating systems to Computer Sciences undergraduates at Tecnocampus Mataró.

Back-End Developer
Research Engineer At The Predictable Parallel Computing (Ppc) Group
Research in several areas such as leveraging 5G technology to reduce latency for real-time services, containerization of 5G network functions, V2X applications, and networks.
Adjunct Professor
I specialized in instructing Computer Science degree students in foundational and advanced concepts within these disciplines:For Services and Networks, I covered network architecture, protocols, and services. Practical sessions included implementing network protocols, analyzing packets with Wireshark, and exploring the functioning of various network services discussed in class. In Operating Systems, I taught core principles such as process management, memory management, file systems, and concurrency. Students implemented code in C to create and manage threads, learned to use parallelization, and explored process and file management within an OS through both theoretical instruction and practical coding assignments.Introduction to Computer Science focused on digital logic design, machine code, CPU architecture, and computer organization. Topics included logic gates, assembly language, CPU structure, memory hierarchy, and system architecture.I developed course content, delivered lectures and practical sessions, and assessed student comprehension to ensure a deep understanding of these critical areas.
Research Assistant At The Wireless Networks (Wine) Group Of In3 At Uoc
I have been part of the WiNe group as a research assistant in a project focused on the development of a solution based on RFID technology for temperature measurement inside industrial ovens. The main objective of the project was to measure the temperature of the industrial ovens used for sealing car paint. The specification of the most common and cheapest tags on the market do not allow temperature measurements on this environment. In order to achieve this high temperature measurements using low cost tags, we combined encapsulation techniques for the sensors with the generation of information models, to increase the measurement range. The first conclusions and data extracted in this research are reflected in the paper:J. Melià-Seguí, I. Rojas, J. Lejarreta-Andrés and X. Vilajosana, "Towards Measurement Range Extension of UHF RFID Temperature Sensors for Industrial Applications," 2022 IEEE International Conference on RFID (RFID), 2022, pp. 12-16, doi: 10.1109/RFID54732.2022.9795975.
Internship At The Wireless Networks (Wine) Group Of In3 At Uoc + Bachelor Final Project
I have been part of the Smart Marina project led by INRIA (Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et en Automatique) within the WiNe group at UOC. The objective of Smart Marina is to implement sensors to measure the energy and water consumption of ships in ports. The sensors were based on WirelessHART technology and a gateway sent the data over the Internet to a backend. During my stay in the project, I designed a WirelessHART gateway with internet access via NB-IoT and communication (gateway-backend) via MQTT protocol that improved the already implemented system (based on Ethernet). This system avoided having to install an Ethernet cable in the ports to connect the gateways to the Internet. My final undergraduate project was based on this internship.
