I was the instructor of record for MCB/PSYCH C64, "Introduction to Neuroscience." The course was 3 units and I taught 57 students with the help of 1 teaching assistant. I was responsible for writing 16 lectures, 6 quizzes, and 2 exams for this condensed 8 week semester course at UC Berkeley. The course was taught remotely and utilized in-class group work and two-phase exams. My student reviews are fantastic and am happy to share them as requested.

My dissertation centered around utilizing the diverse respiration pathways of bacteria Shewanella ANA-3 and related sp. strains to synthesize semiconducting nanostructures at physiological temperatures and pHs. I determined the biologic pathways for production and measured the structural, crystallographic, electronic, and band gap properties of the resulting arsenic sulfide nanofibers. I taught math and science to 6th to 12th graders as we worked through various science labs once a week. I personally designed the course and lesson plans to introduce the students to experimental science, data collection, and graphical analysis.

Worked in R&D on the company's scientific instrument products. Tasked with a variety of projects including early instrument prototyping, optimizing various internal procedures of a marketed instrument, and programming a simulation of a new product.

Wrote LabVIEW code from the ground up to run their early scientific instrument prototype. Device tested antibody adhesion to cells using magnetic beads and microfluidics. Created and included friendly scripting language for their R&D team to make alterations to their experimental protocol on the fly. Code was written to run on a cRIO FPGA from National Instruments.

Became familiar with condensed mater research in a traditional Physics lab under Prof. David Awschalom. While in the group I worked with AFMs, MFMs, spectrometers, various optics, variable wave plates, cryostats, lasers, and an optical tweezers setup. This work culminated into my senior thesis: “Whispering Gallery Modes in Microdisks Featuring Basins and Trenches” in which I used a Focused Ion Beam (FIB) to etch away the centers of prefabricated microdisks to constrain the resident light to the outer geometry of the disk.
