I am passionate about creating value for customers, employees, shareholders, partners, stakeholders and the community through engagement, collaboration, thought leadership and innovation. I have led the transformation of Queensland’s (Australia) regional poles and wires business, Ergon Energy, from a monopoly transporter of electricity towards an open access platform model that sustains the network value and enables the efficient integration of distributed energy resources and user applications within an effective market construct. The outcome being customer empowerment, choice and control in the energy and related services market.I have led or sponsored key innovations including the development of a spatial intelligence and situational awareness capability, ROAMES (winner of the 2015 Edison Electric Institute International Innovation Award), and the Townsville Energy Smart Community Smart Grid Program (an Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Smart Grid demonstration project, Queensland Premiers Award Finalist and EPRI Technology Transfer Award winner. Through strategy, innovation and outcomes Ergon Energy won the Climate Alliance Business Innovator of the Year for its response to climate change.Other significant achievements have been the delivery of electrical infrastructure to support the mining and economic boom Queensland experienced in the last decade, commercially leveraging disruptive policy and technology changes around climate change, carbon and renewable energy targets, and turning around escalating network prices to achieve below inflation outcomes from July 2015.I have influenced industry direction through roles as Director and Deputy Chairman of the Energy Supply Association of Australia, Director of Energy Networks Australia and Chairman of Queensland Futures Institute Energy Committee.
