Well deserved break

I led the Messaging Experiences product innovation teams at Netflix. The team works on a wide variety of notification experiences for many critical business functions across the Netflix consumer experience. The team is organized into three verticals. The Growth Team works on customer acquisition and revenue generation experiences. The Lifecycle team works on content discovery, security, and other lifecycle experiences and finally the Ecosystem team builds the notification experience foundational frameworks that enable product teams to innovate on a wide variety of notification experiences using scalable and easy to use building blocks. Before that I was the tech lead for many product initiatives and engineering projects across a wide variety of domains as we worked to meet the challenge of growing Netflix over a decade to become one of the leading streaming entertainment companies.

DataHighway is the distributed real-time data collection platform at Yahoo. The system is distributed across multiple data centers and collects terabytes of data each day. Clients of DataHighway included Behavioral Targeting, Content Optimizing, and Knowledge Engine, Advertising Platform, and Search to name a few. The Data Highway logging module was installed on every single frontend Yahoo service to track various user metrics.I was the lead SDET for the team. I designed, implemented, and owned the regression framework and the test pipelines. I actively participated in the daily agile/scrum process. I owned the automation suite that consisted of tests in Perl, C++, and Java to cover the wide range of use cases for the platform. The accuracy and reliability of the platform is critical to multiple analytical and revenue business units for the company and I was responsible and accountable for the quality of the platform.

The CAA Build Team provided the baseline builds for all P2K based phones such as the Razr, Rokr, and various E and V series mobile phones (the flagship products at the time). This was my first job out of college. I was hired into a fledgling team that was created to streamline the build and release process within Motorola Mobility. I started out by owning the release of a few product lines and eventually owned the baseline build from which all other builds were cut. I created tools to automate the build and release process. As the team grew, I took on the role as a lead engineer on the team. To on-board new talent, I initiated a training process, created training plans, and trained engineers on relevant build procedures and tools in various parts of the world. I also traveled to Italy and India to stand up their build and release teams.
