The main purpose of this internship is to implement data analytics for the amalgamation of longitudinal data collected on individuals with respect to organizational resilience. My responsibility was to help organize and develop reports on the data collected. I was also involved in a research team to develop insights, conclusions, and recommendations that would be part of technical reports Navy commands. The statistical techniques that will be potentially implemented within this assignment are: Social Network Analysis (SNA), Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) and Hierarchical Linear Modeling (HLM).

Test speededness is defined as the failure to complete an assessment within a specified period of time. Speededness impacts item parameter calibration within an item response theory (IRT) framework. The scope of this research is to examine the impact of test speededness on the item calibration and true score equating for a mixed format assessment via a simulation study. The results show that if there is a high presence of test speededness then the item parameters and the true score equating will be distorted. The data management and statistical analysis was carried out in R.

The purpose of this research was to understand the derivation and analysis of the structure and measurement models within cognitive diagnosis models (CDMs). CDMs are typically used for educational assessment purposes, which involve the presence or absence of a certain skill or trait. I was responsible for the evaluation of relevant structural models with respect to learning progressions. I also ran various simulations that represented different testing situations where the primary goal was to determine the examinees skills.

There are various outlier detection methods that can be used to determine outliers within a data set. The task at SSA was to use longitudinal data analysis to determine the number of counties within each state in the United States that contained outliers compared to previous years’ data. I was responsible for creating the code that longitudinally analyzed the data.

Data was collected by Civic Works (a sector of AmeriCorp) to determine if the amount of energy used in poverty-stricken households in Baltimore, Maryland, would decrease after a new source of energy was supplied. This project required the utilization of linear regression models to determine if the new source of energy had an effect. One of my tasks was to run these regression models and to create new models that used ancillary information to determine if the new source of energy had an effect. I also had to create an alternative statistical method that verified the result that was found.

University Of Maryland School Of Pharmacy Jun 2010 - Jan 2011
    Baltimore, Md, Us
Simulations were run within a complicated transporter model (cellular diffusion) for the purpose of making generalizations and simplifications to the model. Simplifications to the complicated model would eliminate non-essential steps that lower the number of parameters that need to be estimated. My main focus was to create the code for various complicated models and remove steps within the model to determine analytically if the steps were essential.
  • University Of Maryland Baltimore County
    Research Assistant
University Of Maryland Baltimore County Sep 2009 - May 2010
    Baltimore, Md, Us
A mathematical model was derived and analyzed to represent gangs within a closed area. The primary purpose of this project was to find ways to mathematically lower the level of gangs within closed areas. My task was to create this model mathematically and also find various methods of lowering the gang levels.
  • Rutgers University
    Research Assistant
    Rutgers University Jun 2009 - Aug 2009
    New Brunswick, Nj, Us
The utilization of a mathematical model was derived to represent how human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) spreads within a poverty-stricken development. An economic model was also used to track the monetary resources within the community. Both models were used to determine the sustainability of the community if limited treatment was instilled. My responsibility was to modify a pre-existing mathematical model to incorporate the economics of a community and its effects on a HIV poverty-stricken community.

University Of Maryland Baltimore County Feb 2008 - Aug 2008
    Baltimore, Md, Us
Mathematical models were used to represent biological mechanisms with respect to drug therapy within the human body. The purpose of this project was to model the intake of different kinds of medications and analyze their effects on the human body. My task was to create the code that represented this mathematical model and determine what thresholds made the medication effective mathematically.
