I am a computational linguist with two years of experience working with Large Language Models. I specialise in machine translation supervised and reinforcement learning but I am always seeking to extend my skillset and deepen my knowledge of language and AI. My journey to get to this place, working for one of the largest technology companies in Eurasia, began in an unlikely place - a remote village in the mountains of Dagestan. As an exchange student I became stranded in Russia during the coronavirus pandemic. With no house, no money and no way home, I had to find a way to survive. I took a job as an English teacher, packed my bags and left for a region that few foreigners dare to visit - the North Caucasus.By the time Russia dropped a bomb on Kiev I spoke fluent Russian. I had partnered with multiple tour companies as an interpreter and tour guide for foreign and local travelers alike and taught English in many schools across Dagestan. I had my own house, a pomegranate orchard and an extensive network of friends and professional contacts spanning the whole North Caucasus. However, the time had come to leave. I moved to Vienna to start my life over again.It was a gruelling nighttime factory job that gave me the determination to build my freelancing portfolio. Two years later, I have established myself as a language professional working in translation, proofreading and machine learning. The story doesn't end here, though.
