I am currently in my second year of a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours). After a 2-year false start of studying Civil Engineering, I found myself missing the subjects that I had loved so much during school, namely chemistry and biology. At the end of 2019, I made the scary decision to transfer across to biomedical science, then transferred into pharmacy after the first year, and haven't looked back since. I am thoroughly enjoying the course and am looking forward to the many future opportunities that are waiting for me in this field. In addition to my studies, I was lucky enough to secure a temporary COVID-19 position at Castlemaine Health, where I was employed as a Food and Domestic Service Assistant in Thompson House. During this position I built some great relationships with the residents, many of whom suffered from dementia. Working in this role was a great experience that has confirmed my aspiration to work in the healthcare industry.I also work across a number of areas at La Trobe University, including Future Students as a student ambassador, the School Partnerships Program as a facilitator, SHE College as an outreach workshop facilitator and the Rural Health School as a casual administration assistant. I really enjoy working with school students to make university seem like an attainable goal, instead of a big scary unknown.Outside of work and study I love to travel - my background photo was taken in the North Island of New Zealand. I also enjoy playing the tenor horn in City of Greater Bendigo Brass Band, going on adventures with my gorgeous dogs and playing baseball.
