Designing Explainable AI (XAI) algorithms to explain the generative black-box models. Vision-Language Models (VLMs) for the concept-based explanation.• Developed a novel multimodal XAI technique using visual (GradCAM, GradCAM++, ScoreCAM) and non-visual (Influence Function) explanation methods for neonatal postoperative pain assessment from multimodal datasets.• Developed an XAI algorithm via influence function to explain deep network and identified the most helpful and harmful training data for better accuracy and compressed dataset (reduced up to 5%).• Enhanced the explanations (Spearman correlation up to 0.95) by adding similarity-based (Cosine Similarity, Euclidean Distance, Structural Similarity Index) terms within the Influence Function for a facial expression dataset. -
