As a key member of the Infrastructure Team, I provided technical expertise in building & maintaining new environments. This included the installation and configuration of Windows and Linux (Ubuntu) servers in VMware and Hyper-V, as well as deploying and managing VMware Horizon Connection Server, Dell Wyse Management Suite, 10ZiG Manager (including Thin Clients & VDIs), YubiKey smart card authentication, Nessus Vulnerability Scanner, OPSWAT MetaDefender Core & Kiosk, Microsoft Certification Authority (CA, OCSP, PKI), Microsoft KMS Server, Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environment, GPOs, LAPS, ClamAV antivirus & tools like pssh & rsync. Additionally, I carried out system patching, updates, upgrades, proactive maintenance, monitoring, antivirus deployment, and the development & implementation of automation and system enhancements. Furthermore I security-hardened environments in alignment with CIS, NCSC & Pen Test findings to support system accreditation. I meticulously documented all build and configuration processes.

Worked on a contract where I provided technical specialists as part of a contract for build, maintenance and deployment of VMware hosting platforms employing virtual servers with a range of COTS applications such as Dell EMC NetWorker Data Protection, Fortra \ Clearswift Secure ICAP Gateway & Secure Email Gateway, GoAnywhere MFT Server, SharePoint, SQL Server etc.. Project work involved Server builds, upgrades, monitoring, proactive maintenance, Server patching, antivirus updates, implementing backups, developing & implementing service improvements, developing automation & hardware build & deployment. Project work also involved creation and maintenance of LLDs, build, configuration, operating instructions and support documentation.

I was a member of the UK Wintel Change Team working simultaneously for 30+ customers. The Wintel changes encompassed various facets, i.e. small projects management , technical consultancy in terms of drawing up customer requirements, followed by implementation, test, transition and delivery, actively supporting customer DR tests, implementing system changes & upgrades, hardware & software deployment, Server builds, deploying new systems and environments, using VMware and Hyper-V to manage and deploy systems, troubleshooting systems, progressing BAU acceptance of systems, writing technical documentation, contributing to HLD and LLDs and working side by side TAs, etc.• I deployed and configured entire new environments that included setting up VMware, Hyper-V AD, GPO, DNS, CA, Exchange 2013, sFTP• Implemented complete COTS / 3rd party solutions for various customers• Upgraded VMware & ESXi live environments• Took part in tech refresh projects by producing LLDs and carrying out the actual deployment• Worked in conjunction with the Application and Network Teams during several DR tests and routine environment deployments

I carried out a risk assessment on the deployment of Office 2010 within The Scottish Parliament, in context to over 550 in-house applications, templates and third party software currently in use. The role involved producing a configuration matrix for Office 2010, examining applications and templates and creating a risk register of the risks associated with the migration from Office 2007 to Office 2010. Other tasks included the development of a mitigation and containment plan, also providing recommendations based upon the severity of business impact.• Accustomed myself to the new environment in a short time & worked directly with the customer

I was a member of the Transition team and Change & Troubleshooting team working on a system transition project involving the move of a complete system involving hundreds of Servers into a live environment. Duties involved hands on Server build, configuration and management. The technologies used were VMware, Clustering, Load balancer, Active Directory and DNS. I dealt with change management and regularly represented Logica in client CAB meetings dealing directly with client management. I was also the Logica point of contact for overlooking & managing transition related calls logged with the Service Desk.• Solely managed build, configuration and support of Servers, part of an inherited environment

I defined, managed and supported the HRS infrastructure, guiding the expansion for a variety of new and existing HR and Payroll system deployments. This included ownership of infrastructure and providing technical support to the infrastructure BAU team, also reviewing and implementing LTM, network and firewall requests. I supported network changes, reviewed and supported all ad-hoc requests for other HRS system and managed the transition of complete systems into BAU. Other aspects of the role included supporting clients & partners for system/network setup and access. I captured technical requirements from clients and local teams, co-ordinated resources to ensure system setup and configuration, produced high and low level design technical documentation and co-coordinated & managed external pen tests. Dealt with Problem, Capacity & Performance Management (Service Delivery) for all the CPS & CJU sites across the UK. It involved resolving any IT related issues requiring investigation, constant IT infrastructure monitoring and reporting; employing the use of Application monitoring tools (VitalSuite & Hobbit) and network management tools (Packeteer), fault diagnosis (software & hardware), managing the complete installation of network links & circuits at geographically located sites, dealing directly with client management and various third parties.• I managed link provisioning projects for Police stations and Courts throughout the country

I was involved in the software integration & deployment of Servers & Workstations for testing purposes and for their final deployment at various client sites (Satellite Ground Stations). Also managed system administration & support (Hardware, Software, Network, Firewall, Window Servers (AD, DNS & DHCP), 2003 / 2000 / NT Platforms) managing over 100 Servers.• Developed and then implemented a build & integration process enabling configuration of client Workstations and Servers on the Skynet 5 project.

I solely managed and maintained the entire IT infrastructure for a client Law firm with a base staff of 190, taking responsibility and employing a vast array of technologies to manage over 20 servers, 200 desktops, telecom system, video conferencing system, Windows Server system administration, Firewall administration, application, system, & Hardware roll out.• Solely managed and maintained the IT infrastructure for a client Law firm (CPL) with a base staff of 190, by means of my technical abilities and employing a vast array of technologies.

Responsibilities held in Logica include, Team Leader for an ‘Emergency Support Team’, Site Support Engineer, First, Second and Third Line Support Engineer, during this time I also enhanced my IT and business skills set through training courses and real industry use. Lead and managed an emergency support team and achieved the goal of supporting the Logica help desk in terms of clearing the accumulated backlog and training new staff, all within a 3 month time scale.

I undertook my M.Sc. dissertation to develop a Comparison Criteria report for ‘Cross Certification’ between Certification Authorities in conjunction with a PKI Security Company, during which I was also which involved in the installation, configuration, integration and testing of various EnTrust and ValiCert PKI software products.
