I have a passion for social change, social impact, and helping organizations to achieve their goals and working in the non-profit sector for the last 9 years. I have built an academic and professional career around topics including child protection, peacebuilding, youth development, girls education, and mobility with regards to women in South Asia. I am the Child Protection Manager, at Skateistan Berlin office and working towards a culture of safety, written the child protection policy, trained the staff at Berlin, Cambodia, Afghanistan and South Africa on child protection policy, safeguarding and prevention guidelines. I have also helped many social skate projects and sports organizations to have their own child protection policy and framework. At Skateistan, I am leading the alumni network at the moment. Many of the templates on child protection I have helped design for social skate projects could be found on goodpush.org.Prior to joining Skateistan, I worked for the Seeds of Peace as Country Director, Pakistan, and Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF). In my prior work, I have worked with partner organizations with a focus on, youth development, peacebuilding, and strengthening community institutions.I have been an activist and has led many campaigns in Pakistan, one of my leading campaigns was a national advocacy campaign for the inclusion of sexual and reproductive health and rights in the youth policy of Pakistan. Having written the first draft of a youth policy declaration in Balochistan, I have briefed government officials and other stakeholders on the draft youth policy in April 2012.In 2007, I won the first” National Youth Award” in community services, having been nominated by the Ministry of Youth Affairs in Pakistan. I have led a session in the World Youth Conference held in Mexico on “Role of Young People in Gender Equality” and conducted sessions with Kenyan youth networks on meaningful youth participation. I was selected as a youth speaker in an international conference on family planning held in Dakar, Senegal, and have attended the Global Women Deliver Conference in Malaysia as a youth speaker.I have been on some major fellowship programs i.e. Swedish Institute’s Young Connectors Future Fellowship, and the Atlantic Council’s prestigious Emerging Leaders of Pakistan Fellowship Program during the summer of 2012. I have been part of a yearlong professional fellowship from Global Leadership Academy’s leadership lab, titled “Women, Men, Power and Potential”.
