Lead Software Engineer
CurrentAt Saltside, I worked on architecting, designing and coding the Saltside Android application for all markets SriLanka, Bangladesh, Nigeria and Ghana (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=lk.ikman, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tonaton & https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tonaton ). I was responsible to analyze the business requirements and make the initial technology/design decisions for Android development. Good quality of code and product was one of the key requirements with the Saltside one of value “Do fewer things, better”. We also tried our best to keep less number of crashes in our application, I had been checking Bugsnag for crash regularly and creating Jira to resolve it if any.Unit test and CI is the backbone of Android development, we used to write a unit/instrumentation test and automatically publish the app to Google play store from CI when we do have release. We always tried to keep our .apk size as less as possible so that users don't hesitate to download. we have around 6MB of .apk size for this whose classified/e-commerce application.I Worked on many Android modules at Saltside, some of the interesting modules are- Jobs- Chat- Post Ad flow.- Buy Now- SERP rewrite - Ad-details revamp- Push notification etcI migrated Android CI from CircleCI 1.x to 2.x , and later moved from circle CI to buildKite. I was also responsible for onboarding new members in the Android team. Time to time I had been talking sessions on Java, git, Android, etc with the team.At saltside, I did not confine myself only on Android, whenever I feel free and Saltside needs me I jumped on other technologies as well. Here I worked on iOS, Web application ( java-script, React-Js, redux), backend (Go/Ruby), Automation testing (Selenium, TestNG, Extent Reports), Database(mongo), Docker, etc. Many more are here to write but I am keeping rest to my keyboard seems like it is going long :-)
