Greater Jakarta Area, Indonesia

Worked in the Ande Ande Lumut development in the Natuna Sea in Indonesian waters. This is a heavy oil (15 API) accumulation in an unconsolidated, high permeability sandstone setting. The development encompasses some 30 producers with ESPs, ICDs and sand control. Flow assurance is particularly challenging due to wax, scaling and tight emulsion; that will require heat and electrostatic coalescence. Off take is planned through a spread-moored FPSO.

Functional leadership role in production technology, completions and well intervention. Responsible for providing governance and technical assurance across all business segments, operated as well as non-operated. Supported operation in Cooper Basin, Bass Strait, Queensland, Indonesia, Vietnam, PNG, Central Asia and Bangladesh.

Supported the petroleum engineering department in the development of the Al Shaheen field offshore Qatar. These wells were extended reach and targeted oil-bearing sandstone and carbonate reservoirs. Implemented novel separation techniques to achieve export BS&W. Production levels of >300,000 BOPD were achieved.

Lead engineer in the North Uthmaniyah production engineering unit in the giant Ghawar field. Total wells ~400, production ~1 million BOPD. Identified remediation opportunities for production optimization through rig and rig-less interventions from planning right through execution. Introduced various metering technologies to improve measurement accuracy and lower maintenance costs.

Responsible for the operation of three producing assets, which included gas processing (compression, dehydration and sweetening), water injection, LPG recovery and gas lift. These assets were mature and OPEX management was a challenge. Previously, held positions in production and drilling engineering departments.

Held assignments in the North Sea and the Middle East. Specialized in openhole/production logging and perforation. Field tested various tools and participated in several tool developments.

Worked in the Flight Dynamics and Control Division. Primary interest was system identification using regressive techniques and flight testing.
