Dr Imran Ahmad is an accomplished strategic leader with over 20 years of global leadership experience in addressing climate crisis and advancing sustainable development. Imran’s positions include: Director East-Asia & Pacific(GGGI), Head of Regions (IRENA), Senior Economic Officer (UNDESA), Executive Director (Future Earth Australia) and senior roles in Pakistani and Australian public service. He brings a proven track record in advancing green growth, clean energy and climate resilient development in over twenty countries and a reputation for developing strong partnerships with diverse stakeholders. He has managed high performing multidisciplinary and multicultural teams with extensive multicultural experience of living in different countries. Dr Ahmad has been working with Boards and High-level committees with excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.Dr Ahmad is a WWF-Australia Governor, member of Balaton group (group of leading sustainability thinkers and practitioners), thought leader and serves on the Boards of many organisations and UN panels/bodies including UNFCCC expert group on technology transfer and national communications. He has been quoted in BBC, ABC, Euronews and New Zealand Television on climate change and sustainable development. He has been an Adjunct Professor at the Australian National University from 2016-2023. Dr Ahmad holds PhD in climate change policy from Australian National University, Masters in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University (USA) and Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from Engineering University, Peshawar, Pakistan.
