Veel studenten trekken weg uit de regio om elders in Nederland te gaan studeren en wonen. Het merendeel van deze groep keert na de studie niet meer terug. Het gevolg is dat het bedrijfsleven in Zeeuws-Vlaanderen moeilijk aan hoger opgeleid personeel kan komen.
